Thus spake Hurricane Sandy. Cassandra in ancient Greek\u00a0mythology carried a message of warning. She was certainly reminding us of climate change,\u00a0but her timing was such that she might have wanted to intervene in the\u00a0stalemate\u00a0 of the U.S. election too. Who is she voting for?<\/p>\n

I was going to archive some of my past blog statements about the U.S. Presidential election, but have had technical difficulties this weekend, so I will just reiterate that my impression is that Barack Obama will be re-elected.\u00a0 You can search on this blog, my journey on the subject.\u00a0 If you need detailed observations and chart wisdom on the subject, click on Nancy\u2019s blog on my Contact page and you will find everything you need.<\/p>\n

In my astrological style I tend to stick to the basics of the natal\u00a0chart, and avoid overly technical departures from that, and I can come\u00a0over as simplistic.<\/p>\n

Conversely, there are astrologers who rely heavily on their psychic\u00a0powers, and some can read a chart entirely by placing their hands on a\u00a0chart or seeing the aspect lines.<\/p>\n

I have never regarded myself as a psychic astrologer, but have always\u00a0said I am intuitive. However, when it comes to chart interpretation I\u00a0almost entirely rely on the logic of the planetary principles. This keeps me grounded as an astrologer and ensures I can always explain my\u00a0working.<\/p>\n

So, curiously, my most compelling factor in predicting a victory for\u00a0Obama is a dream I had months ago. In the dream, I was looking after\u00a0my grandson, and the victory flashed on the television screen. I only\u00a0look after my grandson once in a fortnight, and I subsequently\u00a0found that I am in fact due to be there when the results are due.<\/p>\n

Mercury retrograde may not be as important a factor as some astrologers\u00a0would convey in the presidential result, but undeniably it does take central stage on election day, at 23.03 Hrs on Tuesday 6th<\/sup> November in the U.K.<\/p>\n

From my postbag<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Number one query in my postbag is always:<\/p>\n

“Is Mercury retrograde? Aargh! My communications have gone haywire!!!”<\/p>\n

Very often when I am asked this, Mercury is not retrograde. Yet this\u00a0phrase is in common usage, and has almost made the Oxford and\u00a0Webster\u2019s dictionaries. \u00a0A little clarity may be offered by the following:<\/p>\n

\n<\/em><\/strong>

Mercury was the Roman god of communication, preceded by the Greek Hermes who was preceded by the Egyptian Thoth. They have the\u00a0reputation of being tricksters but I would love to try and\u00a0rehabilitate or upgrade their reputation. Mercury, through Gemini,\u00a0represents the duality of life, where it is stepped down from the\u00a0Oneness of the Source. \u00a0It sees the positive, and it sees its shadow.<\/p>\n

Retrograde Mercury or planets squaring Mercury represent a more human\u00a0and pre- technology communication problem.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is easier to own your\u00a0 part in mis-hearing or not speaking clearly. It represents older\u00a0forms of communication such as snail mail or rail travel. In\u00a0combination with Mars people can be irritable, and in combination with\u00a0Neptune they can be vague, absent-minded, or deliberately deceptive.<\/p>\n

Uranus<\/span>
\n<\/em><\/strong>
\nUranus represents the higher mind, but also the bolt from the blue,\u00a0against which it is difficult to legislate. \u00a0It represents electrical\u00a0 goods, and technology, such as computers. When people write in and ask\u00a0“What is going on? Is Mercury retrograde?” the most common problem is\u00a0that their email is failing or their computer has gone wrong. This\u00a0phenomena is especially heightened when Uranus squares Mercury. \u00a0But\u00a0 the current background of Uranus square Pluto provides a climate of\u00a0such mishaps. The route to dealing with Uranian challenges is to\u00a0develop your higher intuition (not the same as the gut instinct of\u00a0the solar plexus, though the gut instinct can work with the\u00a0intuition). This faculty can pick up, intercept or even pre-empt the\u00a0disruptiveness of Uranus.\u00a0 If, like me though, your intuition doesn\u2019t extend to computers, you have to call the I.T. expert.<\/p>\n

Venus trine Jupiter<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

On Friday 9th November at 7.26 a.m. Venus trines Jupiter, our only Aspect of the Week.<\/p>\n

I associate Venus trine Jupiter with romance, partying, celebrations,\u00a0engagements and weddings. It is a bountiful aspect.<\/p>\n

Since weddings and civil partnerships are rare events, we may need to\u00a0create an excuse to celebrate on Friday. \u00a0Maybe we can celebrate an aspect of life itself.<\/p>\n

Venus trine Jupiter in the birth chart<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What qualities show up in the birth chart when Venus trines Jupiter\u00a0and what does it tell us about the potential of this aspect?<\/p>\n

Melody and song flourish under Venus trine Jupiter, and two singers\u00a0who have this natally are Debbie Harry (from Blondie) and Donovan, two\u00a0mellifluous singers.<\/p>\n

The quality of beauty comes under this aspect.\u00a0 Model Christie Brinkley has this aspect natally, and was the\u00a0muse for Billy Joel’s song “Up Town Girl”.<\/p>\n

Still on that theme, noted beauty Elizabeth Taylor had a heightened\u00a0double trine of Venus\/Uranus trine Jupiter\/ Part of Fortune.<\/p>\n

Conducter Daniel Barenboim has Venus trine Jupiter and has been able\u00a0to unite (an exalted quality of Venus) Israelis and Palestinians in\u00a0his East West Divan orchestra. Successful diplomacy comes under this aspect.<\/p>\n

Perhaps you can persuade Gareth Malone to set up a choir near you,\u00a0under this aspect.<\/p>\n

From the world of art Dante Gabriel Rossetti, painter and poet and\u00a0founder of the Pre-Raphaelites, possessed this aspect. Hopefully he\u00a0will be the subject of my third blog on the Pre-Raphaelites.<\/p>\n

Where the Jupiter side of the equation is emphasized a person can\u00a0become a philosophical beacon, such as psychological explorer\u00a0Christine Hartley an early proponent of past life therapy, or Esther\u00a0Hicks who is a popular and prolific modern exponent of positive thought in\u00a0the vehicle of the Law of Attraction. \u00a0She was also able to balance a successful\u00a0partnership and collaboration with her husband the late Jerry Hicks.\u00a0 Renaissance rebel Giordano Bruno also carried this aspect, which can\u00a0bring the revelation of truth.<\/p>\n

This aspect therefore provides\u00a0 a suitable time and opportunity to\u00a0augment and sharpen your philosophy of life counter to the current\u00a0trend of cynicism. You may be able to put together a workshop or\u00a0gathering at short notice of like minded people or Lightworkers.<\/p>\n

Above all, it is a day of hope.<\/p>\n
