Aspects for the week beginning 17 June 2012
An Unlikely Combo
The Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama has very kindly agreed to grace the United Kingdom with his presence during the Uranus-Pluto square. That truly is a blessing on proceedings. If you need spiritual inspiration over the next week, you can turn to Tibetan Buddhism knowing that he is on our turf. He is here to promote his message of dialogue, peace and compassion.
Russell Brand
Russell Brand, who introduced the Dalai Lama to an audience of under-25s in Manchester last night, has found some inner peace through Tibetan Buddhism. The position of the upcoming Uranus-Pluto square in his birth chart is interesting: Pluto is in his 12th House of Unconscious, urging deep inner change, and this is square to Uranus in his 3rd House of Communication, leading to the urge to express his new ideology.
He expresses the inner conflict produced by the Uranus-Pluto square nicely:
“I’ve made mistakes in the past, I won’t lie to you, but this one I’m on my game. I’m going to behave. He’s a holy man, it’s not pretend authority, it’s proper authority of God. I’m going to improvise and I am going to be playing for laughs, but I’ve got to be entirely respectful of his holiness and that’s going to be no problem because I’ll tell you why, genuine respect.”
The Aspects
We are working our way towards a New Moon at 28 degrees Gemini on Tuesday (19th). If you know which House that falls in for your personal chart, then you know where to channel that energy. If you don’t know your birthtime or chart, then Communication is the watchword: It’s zippy for emailing poetry, visiting elderly relatives, or just using your Senior bus pass.
Keep the essence of that experience in mind, for on Wednesday (20th) almost the opposite applies: Communications fall flat, trains get delayed, the weather is a nuisance, with Mercury squaring Saturn. Knowing how communications should be, from Tuesday’s template, may help you to forge your way through these inconveniences. Just bear in mind, with the patience of the Dalai Lama, that if you send a text arranging to meet in an hour, the text may not arrive until the next day.
In the evening the Sun enters Cancer and it’s the Summer Solstice, and normally it would be a good time to picnic under the stars, but the conditions may not be conducive. You will need to create an indoor equivalent, or a virtual one, to mark the occasion.
In the early hours of Thursday (21st) it’s a case of:“Wait a minute, it stopped hailing, Guys are swimming, guys are sailing, Playing baseball, gee that’s better, Muddah Fadduh kindly disregard this letter”(Allan Sherman). The rain may only stop metaphorically, but the aspects certainly brighten up. First Venus sextiles Uranus, which is socially upbeat and full of surprises, meetings and invitations. There is a whole blog about it under the category Aspects if you would like to explore further.
Later in the morning Mercury sextiles Mars, and it’s back to zipping around and communicating, only with even more gusto than on Tuesday! If you are well-versed in the language of Astrology, and are short of a conversation piece but provided with like-minded friends, your topic will probably be the Pluto-Uranus square.
Uranus square Pluto
The square between Uranus and Pluto, a mandatory transformation, becomes exact for the first time next Sunday, so I will be posting some sort of guide to this aspect on Friday. Read it then if you would like two days’ preparation time. Until then, try to make sure your own Inner Uranus and Inner Pluto are in tip-top condition! Both planets are pushing for change – urge them towards a constructive direction. More next week…
The week in bullet points:
- Today and Tomorrow – Prepare for communications; write drafts
- Tuesday – A new start in communications; two steps forwards
- Wednesday – One step back in communications
- Thursday – Thrills, followed by another forward step in communications
- Friday and Saturday – Prepare for the Uranus-Pluto square; revisit this blog

Funny you mention Senior bus pass. I’m attempting to get mine when eligible next month, and it’s proving nearly as difficult as getting State Pension sorted. Finally that’s done, with some struggle, so now it’s the tax man to appease. All I want is some more dosh, which after all my years of toll I am intitled to, but really I don’t want to be identified as ‘over 60’….. aargh. Prepared then for more challenges , with thanks Lana for the insights, and, yes – enthusiasm for the joy of being alive and able to interact with presenting changes. Love Sarah

How lovely y’all are going to have HHDL there for a bit. I’ve been blessed to see him once, and it was an extremely profound experience. And I’m not even a Tibetan-flavour Buddhist 🙂 Even more amazing was my VERY Catholic friend who saw HHDL at the same time and came away with a stronger connection to HIS faith because of some of the wisdom we heard spoken. If you get a chance to see him, I strongly encourage you to, regardless of your own spiritual path.
As Mr Brand said “He’s a holy man, it’s not pretend authority, it’s proper authority of God.” There’s something to that which may be difficult to understand until one is in HHDL’s presence. Once there, however, it becomes quite clear this is a person who operates on a totally different plane of existence from the rest of us.
As for the week, I look forward to better communications. I WILL bear in mind the text message conundrum, as it’s likely to happen. I have a majority practice of younger patients who LOVE to text, perhaps I will be old-fashioned Wednesday and call them.
Sarah – good luck on the bus pass, etc. I’m starting to qualify for some discounts, because some places offer them as young as 50. I’m somewhat conflicted about this even as I take advantage of the savings.
Tomorrow evening, my Bear will be playing his Celtic Cello at a “Brave” event. This is the new Dreamworks animation about a Scottish lass who would become a warrior. He’s gotten himself a kilt and all the fixings and is off to join the famous. If you happen to think of it, please send him warm and loving thoughts tomorrow evening (So Cal time).
And with that in mind, I’ll sign off by saying chi mi a-rithist sibh (Scots Gaellic) or Noswaith dda (Welsh) or zài jiàn, yǒu kòng cháng lián xì (Chinese)
*hugs*

Dear Sarah
Geminis are always youthful, whatever their official age. One of you may be 60 odd, but the other…

Dear Dia
Will definitely think of Bear but not sure what day, because you must have been writing around midnight in So Cal…?
I agree that it is a very worthwhile experience to see the Dalai Lama. I have been to see him 4 times, and always fallen asleep in his presence (this is a common phenomenon), taking in the teachings through my subconscious!
I’m a Universalist with my heart in Tibetan Buddhism, through past life associations.
So glad to hear your thoughts on the wonderful HHDL. The quality that comes over most to me is his Joy, a quality of the Soul.
Have a good week, and good luck to Bear,
Love

Hey Lana –
Ah yes, the falling asleep phenomenon. I have a mentor who is a Daoist and going to his lectures is an exercise in tension because I want to have NOTES (he does NOT do handouts) of the lecture (and, no, you may NOT record it) (those aren’t his rules, he could care less, those are the rules of the seminar leaders) but my mind wants to absorb his lectures in that fugue-state sort of way. I tend to get very interesting notes in my computer, but the images that come from the lectures linger long past and inform my treatments.
Bear’s musical excursion is this evening (Monday evening). And just for timing, it’s now 10:32 AM Monday here in SoCal.
*hugs*

So it looks like 8 hours difference, which sounds right-er, since it was earlier in the evening when I wrote the big blog.

Thanks, Dia, for doing the maths…
Hope Bear’s performance was successful. I did think of him!
I like the fugue state too but I just conked out completely when I saw the Dalai Lama.
My last visit was a Boddhisattva Vow, and that just felt complete.
Love
