Harry Kane

“Most of my family were Spurs fans and I grew up 15 minutes from the ground, so I was always going to be a Spurs fan”

~ Harry Kane

This is my second blog about Harry Kane, who surprisingly (for some) won the Ballon D’Or (an award for the best footballer in the world) this week, the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001 to do so.  He made a heartfelt speech at the ceremony at the London Palladium, with particular praise for his wife Kate.  I last wrote about him when he signed up to the German team Bayern Munich in 2023.  I wrote at the time, regarding his birth chart:

I wrote at the time, regarding his birth chart:

“Harry has the Sun in Leo, a good placing for a star sportsman, with the limelight of being a striker.  His Sun sextiles Jupiter, a sporting planet which may at times have brought him luck.  He would certainly be regarded as a lucky mascot.  The Sun trines the North Node, which gives him a karmic mission of leadership.  He has Mercury sextile Mars, acute co-ordination and quick reflexes.  This is beginning to sound like a textbook sportsman!  The early 1990s conjunction of Uranus and Neptune in Capricorn, which gives a capacity to work with complexity, is exact in his chart, at 19 degrees.  This conjunction opposes his Mercury, so he would always have a lot going on mentally, and will have learned to process complex scenarios.  His Mercury also has a powerful trine with Pluto, making him a master psychologist and a deep thinker.  Venus trines Saturn in his chart, a sign of great loyalty – well he has stayed with Spurs for 14 years.  Venus also sextiles Chiron, which gives a special skill in handling people wounded physically or emotionally.  Mars is closely trine Uranus, showing an electrical quality to his energy.  Mars also closely trines Neptune (sensitive action) and sextiles Pluto (a powerhouse of energy).  Jupiter sextile his North Node is a favourable sign of karmic rewards.  If this sounds like the absolute perfect chart for a human, let alone a footballer, he does have a problematic Fixed T-square between Pluto and an opposition of Saturn and Chiron.  Negotiating that in his life, may have helped him negotiate the high pressure life of premier league football.”

Earlier in his career, he was sent out on loan to other clubs, but he worked hard (Mars in Virgo) and overcame setbacks to become a star player.

His transits for the award on Monday are interesting and fitting:

Chiron sextile his Saturn in Aquarius – an acknowledgement of his team spirit

Saturn trine his natal North Node – a reward for his hard work in life (I often come across this transit where someone is honoured for their leadership, or responsibility earning them a karmic reward)

South Node on his Chiron in Leo – a karmic reward for his inner healer

His strength lies in passing and assisting to facilitate goals for others, not just his own, reading the whole football field, possibly a quality arising from his exact conjunction of Neptune and Uranus.

Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe was one of the other two contenders, the other being Lamine Yamal.  It was one of the closest votes in the award’s history (apparently there were only 28 points between them).  There was a double disappointment for him this week, as he was also forced to apologise for insulting Mao Zedong after jokingly referring to him as “a Chinese dictator”.

Luckily, we have a birth time for him, because on the continent these things are recorded at birth.  I have also written about his birth chart:

“He has the Sun in Sagittarius  (a sporty sign) loosely square Jupiter (a sporty planet).  He also has the Sun closely trine Saturn, so he has a good measure of control, to counteract the Jupiterian over-enthusiasm.  His Sun trines the North Node, which is one sign of a Leader, especially in terms of  a karmic mission.  The North Node is in Leo, another sporty sign.  Mars (football) is rising, only three degrees away from his Ascendant.  Mars, the planet of football, also squares his natal Midheaven (Careerpoint) emphasizing the nature of his career.  So all that is a sound basis for a successful sportsman of itself.”

I would add that he has Mars trine Uranus, in common with Harry Kane (showing an electrical quality to his energy).

He also has the Sun trine his North Node, like Harry Kane (gives him a karmic mission of leadership).

Could these be astrological factors for qualities leading to a Ballon D’Or?

I pointed out in an earlier blog (December 2022) that Mbappe’s Jupiter in Pisces is conjunct that of another distinguished player, Lionel Messi.  Another astrological pointer to watch in footballing charts.

Mbappe’s transits for this week of disappointment and offence included:

A square from Saturn to Mbappe’s natal exact conjunction of the Moon and Venus

And a Nodal Reversal

His strength lies in the ability to turn a match on his own, spectacularly, rousing a crowd to their feet.

Michael Owen

We also have a birth time for Michael Owen, and that reveals some correlations in his chart with Mbappe’s, the most important being that they both have Mars (the planet of football) rising.  Would we to have Harry Kane’s birth time, could it be that he might have Mars rising?  We will probably never know.  Michael Owen has footballing Mars conjunct his North Node too, linking the sport to his karmic mission.  Michael Owen and Kylian Mbappe are both sporty Sagittarian Sun signs.  Like Harry Kane, Michael has Venus trine Saturn, a sign of great loyalty, calmness and patience.

His strength lay in scoring goals, spectacular ones, to boot.  He was also known for his calmness, a good head on his shoulders.

For this Astrologer, who knows little about football, this exercise has been an observation on the planet Mars and its prominence in the charts of footballers…I assume Harry Kane will be in line for Sportsperson of the Year, with his amazing achievement.  John Crace, the satirical Guardian writer, wrote in a moment of seriousness in 2023:

“In our hearts, every fan knew this moment was coming…A player such as Kane deserves to end his career with a few winners’ medals and playing Champions League football.”

He has added this week in the Guardian that he is overjoyed at Harry’s latest accolade.  It makes a change from dissecting politics.

Aspects

I have only two aspects for you this week!

The first is Venus sextile Jupiter on Wednesday (4th November).  This is one of the most delightful of the year’s aspects.  It’s a sociable and romantic aspect.  The day could bring hope and happiness, socially or romantically.  Engagements, celebrations and virtual parties could be on the agenda.  This sextile combines luck and love.  Enjoy!

The second is on the same day, a conjunction between the Sun and Mercury at 12 degrees Scorpio, so mark you calendars and diaries accordingly.  The conjunction will emphasize the theme of concentrating our minds on the deeper issues.  The Sun and Mercury together may come up with some insightful solutions. Hope may be rekindled and the light at the end of a tunnel glimpsed.

If you are interested in information about a Fixed Star which extends to the latter half of the week, South Scale, Zubenelgenubi, the Alpha star in the constellation of Libra, would be one to watch.

“Starlight Elixirs” by Michael Smulkis and Fred Rubenfeld provides the following:

“At a higher level, the influence of this star is primarily karmic.  You may begin to recognize karmic patterns and see how they are able to cause you to interact in a relationship in certain specific ways.  The essential factors of the karma may become clear and you may begin to understand more about the motivation for something.”

The week in bullet points:

  • Wednesday – love and luck; forensic insight
  • Thursday – karmic patterns
